Administrative Appointment

Boise, ID — November 19, 2025 — Boise School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Robin Butler to serve as Principal of Valley View Elementary School, effective Monday, December 1, 2025, following Autumn Break. 

Rick Jordan, the current principal at Valley View has accepted a position as assistant principal at Fairmont Junior High effective December 1, 2025. Capital High School Assistant Principal, Greg Tovey, will act as interim principal through the end of this week.

Robin Butler is a caring, well-respected, and knowledgeable educator with extensive experience in elementary education and special education. Mrs. Butler has dedicated her career to supporting Idaho’s public school students, working to ensure that every child has access to a nurturing, inclusive, and high-quality educational experience.

Mrs. Butler brings a deep understanding of elementary school environments through her years of service in Boise School District schools, including roles as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Garfield Elementary (2013–2014), Extended Resource Special Education Teacher at Maple Grove Elementary (2014–2019), and Excel Special Education Teacher at Amity Elementary (2019–2020). Her background equips her with strong instructional knowledge, a keen awareness of student needs, and a well-rounded perspective on the supports that help elementary learners thrive. 

In addition to her elementary classroom experience, Mrs. Butler has served in key administrative roles, including Assistant Principal at Syringa Middle School and Assistant Director of Special Services for the Caldwell School District (2020-2023); and as Assistant Principal at Fairmont Junior High School for the past two and a half years. 

Her leadership has included the successful implementation of school-wide initiatives, strengthening of student-family relationships, and ensuring that schools operate with a strong culture of safety, responsiveness, and belonging.

Mrs. Butler is deeply committed to the District’s student-centered instructional model and is passionate about making sure each student receives the resources, guidance, and opportunities they need to succeed. She values strong staff collaboration and prioritizes meaningful professional development that supports innovative, effective instruction.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Director of Special Education Endorsement, all from Boise State University.
