Hello Hillcrest Families,
I hope you and your families enjoyed a relaxing and memorable Autumn Break. As we return to school, I want to extend a warm welcome back to all our students and families. This time of year is filled with excitement, learning, and important school activities, and we are eager to finish the semester strong.
Over the next three weeks, teachers will be focusing on key academic goals as we approach the end of the grading period. Consistent attendance is especially important as teachers wrap up major units and prepare students for assessments. Thank you for making every effort to have your child at school on time each day. Please encourage your child to stay organized, complete assignments on time, and reach out to teachers if they need additional support.
In addition, our wonderful music department will be presenting several performances, with dates listed below under Calendar Events. You won’t want to miss the incredible hard work our students have put into preparing these programs.
The cooler weather is definitely upon us, please remind your child to wear their warm outside gear (coats, hats, boots, and gloves). We appreciate it!
In the event of a school closure due to winter weather, our district will communicate in a number of ways to spread the word. In addition to notifying local radio and television news stations, they will send text & email messages to parents/guardians, send an emergency alert via the District’s mobile app (Parent Square), post closure information at
www.boiseschools.org, on each school’s website, and on our
Twitter,
Facebook,
Instagram accounts.
Parents/guardians can sign-up to receive emergency text messages by texting “Y” or “YES” to the number 67587.
Non-parents (e.g., other family members, staff, news media, etc.) can also receive emergency text alerts via the Boise School District's mobile app (available in the
Apple App Store and
Google Play Store)
Lastly, to ensure you receive these alerts, please make sure our school has your current mobile phone number in our student information system. If your number is up to date, you will automatically receive emergency text messages through ParentSquare. If you do have a mobile phone number in ParentSquare, you will receive an email or App/Push notification depending on whether you’ve downloaded the ParentSquare App or not. See below on how to download the ParentSquare App.
Welcome back, and let’s make these next few weeks successful and joyful for all our students!
Warmly,
Dr. David
Principal
