Boise School District High Schools Earn National Recognition for Expanding College Opportunity
Boise School District is proud to celebrate all four of our traditional high schools for earning recognition on the 2025 AP® School Honor Roll, a national distinction that honors schools for expanding access to Advanced Placement coursework and supporting students on the path to college success.
Boise High School – Gold
Timberline High School – Gold
Borah High School – Silver
Capital High School – Silver
The AP School Honor Roll, awarded by the College Board, recognizes schools that are intentionally building a strong college-going culture by welcoming more students into AP courses and helping them succeed once enrolled.
“Expanding access to rigorous coursework is central to our strategic plan and our commitment to preparing students for life beyond high school,” said Superintendent Lisa Roberts. “This recognition reflects the hard work of our educators and the opportunities we’re creating so more students—regardless of background—can challenge themselves, earn college credit, and graduate confident and prepared for what comes next. That benefits not only our students, but our entire community.”
Research shows that students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time. Students who earn college credit through AP can accelerate their path to a degree, reduce college costs, and build confidence for college success. Even for those who do not earn college credit, AP coursework provides early exposure to college-level expectations and strengthens a schoolwide culture focused on academic growth and postsecondary readiness.
The 2025 AP School Honor Roll results highlight Boise School District’s continued focus on academic excellence, equity, and opportunity—ensuring students across all four high schools have access to challenging learning experiences that prepare them for college, careers, and beyond.

ParentSquare Update: Smarter Notifications, Same Great Connection
Boise School District uses ParentSquare to keep families connected—with district, school, and classroom updates all in one place. And now, ParentSquare is introducing an improvement that makes it even easier to stay informed — Smart Notification Delivery.
This new feature helps streamline communication by sending post notifications through the ParentSquare app first, and by text only as a backup. The goal is to reduce duplicate messages while keeping families fully informed.
What’s Changing:
📲 App-first delivery, text as fallback: Posts, post digests, and updates to posts will now send through the app first, with a backup text only if needed.
⏱️ No change for time-sensitive messages: Direct Messages and alerts will still go to all your preferred methods (text, email, and app).
📩 Email notifications: These will continue for all communications.
Why the Change:
This update helps simplify and streamline how you receive school notifications, making it easier to track important updates all in one place.
What You Need to Do:
✅ No action required — if you already use the app and have both app and text notifications turned on, you’ll automatically benefit from this update.
📱 If you haven’t downloaded the ParentSquare app yet, now’s the perfect time! It’s the best way to access, customize, and manage your school communications.
