Dear Hillcrest Families,
On behalf of the entire Hillcrest Team, welcome to another fun-filled school year! We hope you had a restful and refreshing summer and that your student(s) are excited for a year filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities.
This year, we will continue aligning our work with our district's vision by strengthening our student-centered system—one where academic rigor, authentic engagement, and a responsive culture for learning are at the heart of everything we do. One of our major initiatives this year is the transition to Standards-Based Reporting. This shift will help us provide clearer, more meaningful communication about each student's progress and ensure greater transparency with our families. We know that none of this important work is possible without the support of our incredible families and community. We are grateful for your partnership and look forward to working together to ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
As you may recall, several of our staff members accepted new leadership opportunities at the end of last school year. While we will certainly miss them, we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and wish them continued success in their new roles. Thankfully, they have promised to stop by and visit from time to time!
With that, I am excited to introduce the newest members of our Tiger Team, along with several familiar faces who will be serving in new roles this year.

The first bell rings at 9:10 a.m., and students are dismissed at 3:45 p.m.
Beginning of the Day
Students may arrive on the playground beginning at 8:45 a.m. Please do not drop students off before 8:45 a.m., as adult supervision is not available prior to that time.
End of the Day
Students who are not riding the bus or participating in an after-school program should leave campus promptly at dismissal. We ask that parents and guardians arrive on time for pickup so that all students are picked up by 4:00 p.m. Staff supervision ends at 4:00 p.m., and we are unable to provide supervision after that time.

This year, we are introducing a new daycare van pickup procedure to further enhance student safety.
Daycare vans should take the first left turn into the main parking lot and pull forward to the white line. Staff members will escort students together across the parking lot using the white crosswalk and safely load them into their designated daycare vans.
To help ensure a safe and efficient pickup process, daycare vans will be the only vehicles permitted to pass through the entry point.
The parent pickup line will remain the same. Students will continue loading into parent vehicles after the yellow crosswalk.

Bus stop assignments will be uploaded into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal after August 7th, which is the most accurate location for families to look up bus schedules.

Help Keep Students Walking and Biking Safely This School Year
- The school district’s School Crossing Guard contractor, All City Management Services, is currently hiring dependable individuals to serve as School Crossing Guards. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community while helping students travel safely to and from school, we’d love to hear from you.

First Three Days of School: Traffic Pattern Change
The Boise Open will take place August 12–16. This is a wonderful event for our community and provides significant economic benefits. Because of the tournament, there will be temporary traffic pattern changes during the first three days of school that families should be aware of before the first day.
Pond Street to Greenbriar will remain open for school access. However, you can expect increased traffic and parking in the area, and several surrounding streets will be temporarily closed. Sidewalks will remain open and accessible for students and families.
Please review the attached map for specific road closures and traffic routes. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together to ensure a safe and smooth start to the school year. Special Thank You from the Tour Director, link: letter.

All kids 15-and-under get free admission to the tournament all week! Sunday’s Final Round is Junior Day sponsored by St Luke's Health Plan and the first 500 kids in attendance will receive a FREE tournament logo hat and FREE Lunch. There will also be fun golf games all day for kids of all abilities and free lessons and tips from RMSPGA Professionals on the driving range from 1pm – 3pm in the afternoon.

Free Meals for Our Students!
Additionally, our school participates in the USDA Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)—which means all students at our school will also receive free lunch this school year!
Key Points to Know:

No Application Needed: Families do not need to complete a meal application to receive free meals for students attending our school.

If You Have Students at Other Schools: Meal applications may still be required for students attending non-CEP schools within the Boise School District to qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.

Complete Meals Only: The free meal benefit covers complete student meals only. Items such as milk only or a second entrée require a payment from the student’s meal account or cash at the register.

Annual Notification Regarding Public Release of Student Directory Information
The Boise School District complies with federal law (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) as it relates to the release of student directory information to the public.

Hillcrest Elementary is a Title I School. Federal law requires that each Title I-A school notify families/parents of each student attending any school receiving these funds that information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teacher(s) may be requested.
As a parent or guardian of a student attending a school receiving Title I-A funds, you have the right to know:
- Is my child’s teacher licensed to teach the grade(s) and subject(s) assigned?
- What is the college major of my child’s teacher(s)?
- What degree or degrees does my child’s teacher(s) hold?
To request the state qualifications for any of your child’s teacher(s) and/or paraprofessional(s), please contact the school office. If you would like more information about the school’s Title I-A program, feel free to contact us, 208-854-5050.
You will be notified if your child is being taught by a teacher over four or more consecutive weeks who does not meet state licensure requirements for the teaching assignment.
